Hrm... Prodigy, AOL, usenet, compuserve, etc - late 80's/early 90's had internet forerunners, I learned about this sort of thing on compuserve and also in the official AOL nintendo rooms (power circuit and power outlet represent!!!!) later on, i'm guessing that played a role maybe?
Okay but everyone in my backwater village knew about it too, unless they were all secret technology wizards and I just never noticed because I spent my childhood in doors playing video games 🙂↕️
Ohhhh, yeah - I'm guessing there's multiple ways this happened, probably multiple discoveries of it + knowledge spreading there, gaming magazines etc. Like basically just a much slower version of how stuff spreads today? Sorry, I'm like omega stoned and am just like 'HEY! How *did* that happen?" lol
I wish I knew 😂 maybe bc back in the day we just did stuff for fun, nowadays a game comes out and most people have to find something to complain about, graphics, gameplay or whatever. I miss the days where you just simply put a disc in and play. No trolls making comments no ratings just pure joy
It's also really funny considering the nes carts had explicit instructions not to blow into them, and blowing into them has always been against recommendation
by that point game magazines were big enough. game came out in 1997 and gamefaqs has been around since 1995. someone would have definitely posted about it in either medium
Pssst, a kid at the playground during recess told me that if you save your Pokemon Silver file 3 times, run around Ecruteak City twice, turn off the game, turn it back on, you'll have infinite Master Balls.
I remember losing this game back in the day and finding it submerged in a puddle outside my house where it must have fallen. I took it inside and dried it with a heater for a few hours and put it in the Gameboy, and it still worked 🤣🤣💪

games not working. wonder why? maybe it's dirty. what if I blow on it to at least get the dust out? hey that worked!
How did THAT spread like wildfire
HOW did we all know that?
