Shocking - these 'freak' weather events are happening with frightening regularity now but they have been predicted for some years. Anyone actually doing anything to reduce the causes of the #Climatecrisis yet? 🤔
Denmark and Greenland should place a No Trespass Order on everyone associated with the anal tangerine. They are Extremely Dangerous and shouldn’t be allowed in Peaceful countries.. If allowed in you all will endure school shootings at an alarming rate not to mention other gun violence..
I wish we all would stop calling this climate change, as if Mother Nature said, "whoopsie doopsie, changed my mind"! It is Climate Destruction and reversible... hopefully
Continual Fossil fuel burning has changed our climate over time raising air temperatures & humidity content of the air in California-making the air act like a clothes dryer continually circulating through-out our state - so when the Santa Ana winds pick up a tiny spark can ignite an inferno
Very likely not reversible now. There’s still a chance but every wasted year is critical. In a few days a lunatic will move into the White House again.
First, there's no need to be rude. Second, I was talking about the planet, not one coast of one state in one country. During covid, must of the planet recovered well, proving that it's possible.
It is. And how terrible and sad…..hopes and prayers for everyone…….however……
Now try to contemplate this level of horror, and then some, for Palestinians…….but instead of hero’s trying to save and help, you have soldiers trying to murder you too!
When winds reach 100 miles per hour, they create chaos, sending embers flying like fireworks. In these conditions, firefighters are rendered powerless, as the winds can ignite fires in an instant, turning a manageable situation into an uncontrollable blaze.
The age of reason has now past and we’re into the age of money, and the only way to change and confront the existential crisis we're in - politically, economically -
is to weave sustainability into the fabric of money itself.

I’m hearing that someone caused this devastating fire by arson. Who on earth would cause such turmoil in so many people’s lives? This world is full of mentally disturbed people. 😡
Keep in mind that even those who do not lose their homes will likely have to gut them and remodel due to smoke damage. This happened to friends of mine whose home was untouched in a fire zone. Had to replace drywall, flooring, furniture that was permeated with smoke.
The devastation is mind-blowing. So many families and individuals will be hurting from this and so much loss that will be irrecoverable. Family heirlooms, photos, antiques, memories lost. It is heartbreaking.
Trump advised cleaning the forest floors, to the ridicule of the entire world. He has changed though, now he is blaming the fires on Gavin "Newscum". At the same time, he still says climate change is a hoax and wants to use more fossil fuels. Man, what a great choice for the next President.
The people that voted for the orange menace aren’t bothered by LA burning. It’s a good start to their plans for mass deportations and punishing the Hollywood elite. California suffering is a bonus feature.
I can see James Wood’s house from here! Notice the different coloured flames. That is because his house is burning from government incompetence. Everybody else’s is a result of Global Warming.
Why is he still living in such a beautiful blue state? I can see him more in Texas, I also refuse to watch anything with him or Dennis Quaid! And any other Facist
I'm Australian. Our bushfires differ because we don't have such concentrated development. But we do have lots of smaller towns who go through this. My heart goes out to those affected by these dreadful fires.
And PTSD is real. This is going to be a dreadful issue for people there. I have seen it.
Im Newfoundland 🇨🇦 and in our city St Johns, 1892 had a huge fire that burned because all the housing was row housing.
My heart breaks for this devastation 😞 No one deserves this.
We had similar fires and a large urban loss here in Santa Rosa, Sonoma County.
This AI generated report lists summary damage in Sonoma County from several wildfires, over a period of decade.
The second shows Pacific Palisades valuation pre- disaster. This looks like they've lost the whole city.
I spent 18yr in disaster response. Days later, I can't process this image. I struggle, cry, rage, and still struggle. I talk to my therapist. It's been 8 years since I worked disaster.
Response leaves an indelible mark. Thank you to those responding in any form, even regular civilians. Thank you.
Apocalyptic! And this is only 2025. What’s in store for the world if we are only getting started? What will the year 2100 look like? Let’s hope this is a call to action.
That image of a row of houses RIGHT BY THE OCEAN along the PCH and they are ASHES....just astounding. It's funny that we think, "Oh, they're right by water..." Yeah, that's not safe, either. Dear Lord.
If I had a home by the water in LA and other fire-prone areas, I'd definitely have a raft, boat, something that if the highways/streets were impassable, I'd be out on the water just to survive. I mean, if you can afford a million plus house, a boat/raft ain't a big investment.
:( that's a horrible tragedy... And I wish the best to all the people there.
At the same time I wanna mention one thing:
That's a taste of what citizens of eastern Ukraine have to face against the Russian Empire.
An invasion is like having everything burned down and people tortured by the heat.
Well the “free market” has determined that climate change is real. Just ask those that have or will lose home insurance. The big money risk guys know it.
I have been through hurricanes, tornados, small earthquakes, flash floods, and other potentially catastrophic events, but I have NEVER seen anything to compare to the horror of what is happening in southern California. Un-holy shit!
Remember when it was just woods and the occasional cluster of houses? Now, it's fucking cities, it's fucking climate change, it's getting worse. Those assholes need to shut the fuck up about it not being climate change.
That’s obviously true in hindsight. And hindsight is why codes keep changing. I’m not a builder, but I’ve done a few remodels of my own homes (fully permitted and inspected), including doing all the electrical, etc.
…
Every time I start a new electrical project, I research the code changes since my previous remodel. In each case, I learn that the electrical work I did just 2 or 3 years earlier would no longer meet code.
UK 🇬🇧 resident here & im not in construction
I’ve always looked at wonder at how many houses in America are literally made from wood 🪵…..it’s unheard of here, ALL our houses/buildings are brick built and have been for centuries
Probably since the Great Fire of London …
I find it very hard to believe all of the major fires were accidental. It is horrific & devastating to thousands of lives. It just feels non-natural. I hope law enforcement does deep investigation to make sure nothing gets missed.
It is not hard to imagine if you look at existing neighborhoods where trees have not been cleared of power lines.
From my front yard, I can see ten tress that are touching power lines.
Add drought.
Add a 50 mph wind, shit is going to burn.
Add a 100 mph wind, neighborhoods burn to the ground.
The Tubbs fire that destroyed most of Santa Rosa was 2017 and killed 22.
The most destructive fire in history. Started by bush and electrical lines.
It was surpassed by the Camp fire a year later. Started by electrical lines. Now LA.
We have had friends in all of these fires.
We know the cause.
It is obvious we cannot get our power companies to police their lines as they once did, cities, counties, neighborhoods need to start doing it for them.
There should be massive campaigns all over the west to clean up power lines and areas around power boxes.
Climate change is not a new concept.
My attempt at figuring it out says Eaton Fire (Altadena), which I think is one of the larger ones and clearly beyond devastating. So sad and also scared for my many LA area friends.
It *is* so very hard to process this scene, watching from the other side of the continent. To think of how many houses and structures are lost there, and the families involved is horrifying. All of those little red glows. 10's of *thousands* is a scale that many can't imagine.
I just cannot get over that photo. Here in Western Australia we get crazy bushfires that can burn out a rural property. It's always a tragedy when that happens. Your picture is an entire suburb burned out. That has never happened in Australia. Jesus Christ, this is beyond horrific.
In December 2003, a bushfire swept through outer suburbs of Canberra, that tragically killed four people, injured 435 people, and destroyed 510 properties. This is another level of destruction entirely. So devastating.
As someone who is used to fires living in Western Australia, where it regularly hits 110F. these fires in the middle of winter are truly shocking. Fires in winter are unheard of here.
As someone who used to live in Arizona where it also regularly hit 110F and more, yeah, this is somewhat surprising. Although here in Tennessee, where I am now, we had a huge wildfire in 2016, and it was in December. I guess the common factor was a long period without rain.
It was the perfect storm of record low rain in the last 8 months, a warmer Pacific ocean for this time of year and the crazy record setting Santa Ana winds fueled by the warmer ocean.
And high erratic winds from 60 to 90 m/h made it impossible for aircraft’s to help contain, until today that winds are more friendly, that is what’s happening over my home on Eaton fire .
Tomorrow it’s an advisory for high winds again. Please pray for us.
If it happened after the 20th, Rapey McRaperton would be trying to block any relief because he is a POS. Just making shit up about Our Governor. Claiming that the fire dept is "woke".
You sure thats trump and not a musk hand puppet? or maybe trumps upset of having elons hand up his ass...either way its not even started 4 years and it already needs to be done
I prefer focusing more on this Eaton fire. Residents are primarily normal people living in Altadena. Many work at JPL, a place dedicated to science & advancement of knowledge, that is threatened by the flames. These folks don’t have deep resources. Thank goodness Biden has stepped up w fed help.
we need to tax corporate climate deniers and their spokes people for fire insurance. 75% tax on corporate profits and dividends ought to get them screaming bloody murder
Maybe this is why they are having a hard time with water . Trump the Republican Jesus sees this and doesn’t think of sadness for the people who lost everything. He thinks, I need to take advantage of this and attack my political enemies , who cares about the victims.
Emergency water systems for the fire department were designed to fight one fire at a time, not the entire city on fire. The system just wasn’t designed to work that way.
Heartbreaking. Nature doesn’t care if you live in a mansion or a cardboard box when it decides to go into unleash zone. If we don’t seriously address climate change in this country, these disasters will only grow in scale and frequency.
I was wondering if all of that is on fire. One of the news people in the middle of the night tried making it seem that ONLY the houses on fire right then were actually on fire and the others are just light pollution.
It looks like the whole neighborhood to me which is vastly devastating.
Do you control the American government? I don’t and neither do my son and daughter-in-law who live(d) in Altadena. Do you think regular Gazans deserve to suffer for what Hamas has done? Regular Israelis deserve to suffer for Netanyahu’s madness? Are you ready to pay for Trump’s crimes.
Gazans and Palestinians suffer because Zionist occupation highly backed by US, but I don't think Americans deserve a fascist government with Trump, indeed. Fight them.
Backed by who in the US? Don’t conflate regular Americans with the people making funding decisions. I’d use tax dollars for schools and healthcare instead of offensive weapons, but my vote can’t overshadow billionaires buying our elections.
Reminds me of our devastating Australian bushfires here in 2019-2020. 🔥 😥
As a resident of Southern California for many years, I'm thinking of you all. 💔
How are these people ever going to get through what lies ahead for them. How are they getting through each hour? They have lost everything and more! It is gut wrenching. I just don’t have the words!

But, reversible? In what way is what’s happening to Los Angeles right now “reversible”?
Seriously, what the hell is wrong with everyone getting so bent out of shape over literally nothing?
Can't even imagine the horror that people are living through losing their homes and belongings. How very tragic.
Now try to contemplate this level of horror, and then some, for Palestinians…….but instead of hero’s trying to save and help, you have soldiers trying to murder you too!

Anyone keen to join the dots here and name the problem?

People won't live another 75 years
Various fires burnt an est. 24.3M hectares (243,000 sq kms), destroyed over 3,000 buildings & killed at least 34 people
Fire smoke was responsible for 400+ deaths

Broadcastity.I am getting info AS it happens
The last is true, if one names Chevron, Exxon, Shell, and Charles Koch as perpetrators.
The same allegations popped up after the 2017 Tubbs fire, which mainly hit non-forested or underbrush-burdened neighborhoods in Santa Rosa.
they are like Match Boxes ready to ignite
When they rebuild they will all have to meet strict Ca. Building Safety Codes
58 years in construction
You can see why Insurance companies are dropping out...
My childhood home blt in 1949 cost $8k and sells for $1.3 million now, what would it cost to rebuild.
…
Batteries concern me, Lithium burns super hot
We install heat and smoke sensors but still...........

Big problem is the gas line running through those neighborhoods, they're like underground fire bombs ready to go off..
Is this Palisades?

Biden shows up, gives comfort and promises aide.
Trump goes FULL 'mean girls' on his social media while hurling insults and making it 1000% political.
The next 4 years are gonna suck. I wonder if we will make it 4 more..
Thoughts for all ( except Fricking James Woods) who lost everything to this fire
(Apocalyptic 😔)
anything that can be thought of can be done
it takes people like u to stop lowering expectations. inevitability is a tool of the wicked. stop it
Just so people know.
These things can be replaced though. The lives lost cannot. Stay safe Cali💙
