I have been slipping back to X because I can't seem to get the hang of it here. It's hard to get the same engagement even though X sucks. What am I doing wrong here?

It's everyone else doing things wrong. I'm on Mastodon and would have had been fine with just it but some of my X friends came here. They don't RESHARE without being told. They seldom speak and seem to check Bsky as a last ditch SM action. It's no busy like *old Twitter* was.
Even a gradual slow daily accumulation is highly valuable—when those u add are well within the sphere of your dear
interests / regular identity affirming activities. Even if it's not one big group at once. The reward & impact on your use of the app is dramatically affected
There’s some features on X I miss like the accounts you subscribe to you can choose “all notifications “ and keep up with their posts. I also miss the “bookmark” feature
1. You have to *try* here. You're not going to get spoon-fed content via an algorithm.
2. Don't expect people to automatically follow you back. People got burned doing that in the bad place, and most are more cautious about curating their feeds here. Give it time.

3. Find feeds that you like and follow and/or pin them. Scroll to the search section on the feeds page. There are TONS of them, and it's like switching channels to get different kinds of content.
4. Interact with people. It's generally more "human" here and less click bait-y. Just talk to people.
While the numbers are growing, there are still not that many Canadians here so I do find that there's less engagement with Canadian content and posters. That's changing, however. But posting about cats😺 always helps.😉

I’ve deleted my twitter account and won’t go back as long as Elmo owns it.
I really like the feeds one can set up here. Easier to get on a topic of interest
interests / regular identity affirming activities. Even if it's not one big group at once. The reward & impact on your use of the app is dramatically affected

This is a nice place … sometimes we hunger for more than nice…
