First bird of my day: a blackbird in the thick snow, spurting defiantly under the garden trees that are weighed down by millions of snowflakes, the sky a grey-yellow full of snow clouds. #FirstBirdOfMyDay #WhatsYours

First bird of my day: a small group of starlings at the bottom of the garden searching through the snow for their breakfast. Second bird, the resident male blackbird tucking in to his breakfast. #FirstBirdOfMyDay
First birds of my day were four Rooks in the snow covered green opposite our house ❄️ One of them was having a snow bath. First time I've ever seen that 🥶 #FirstBirdOfMyDay #WhatsYours #Limerick Stay safe and warm everyone 💚
Snow came and went overnight leaving rain. The birds only appeared later, thrushes made a swift assault on the rowan berries , retreating to the safety of the rooftops #FirstBirdOfMyDay
FBOMD a magpie flying over the snowscape to a TV aerial. Though I'd heard a carrion crow at 7.30am. I'm walking under an umbrella. Raining moderately reducing the snow such that a blackbird able to root about through remainder by the civic hall. 🐦⬛❤️
#FirstBirdOfMyDay: the familiar shape of a Blackbird atop the post that holds the bird feeder. Easy to spot against the snowy background. Last night’s snowy blanket is melting rapidly in the drizzle. The garden is alive with birds zipping around
No snow in Suffolk, just drizzle and meh. Opened the curtains to four wood pigeons squabbling on the lane, although I could hear their flapping way before I saw the action.

A dunnock and a robin, venturing out from the protective overhanging snow laden privet boughs, to seek food fallen from the close by feeders.

The local park @burleypark.bsky.social is a winter wonderland. Small redwing flocks plus a few starlings and the pied wagtail foraging the leaves in the lee of the big trees. Definitely an easterly wind last night #FirstBirdofMyDay
No snow in Sussex; #FirstBirdOfMyDay is a woodpigeon bathing in heavy rain, holding its wing up to wash away parasites perhaps? Taken through a raindrop covered window, so not the sharpest pic. That's a a rose bloom (Maigold) bottom right, believe it or not.
#FirstBirdOfMyDay was a crow sitting on a chimney pot on a house across the way and a robin singing in the berberis. 🥰
Cold, no frost and no snow yet in DD6.
I had no idea what freezing rain could do until I lived in Quebec & saw people hacking at their cars with mini icepicks to try & get in. I went out to help & promptly ended up on my a*se! Had to slide home down the hill 😹 Next morning there was a chain of people trying to get back up the hill 😹
That sounds entertaining, I’m just glad I don’t have to go anywhere in the car today, Canada is an amazing place I’m not sure if I could cope with the winters though 😂
They’re a … challenge, in some ways! Very long & cold. Otoh, it’s usually much sunnier between blizzards & there are loads of outdoor activities, plus the houses are heated properly & the air is drier so it’s much easier to deal with the cold 😺 Avoid freezing rain at all costs though! Nightmare!
Three ravens on the side of the highway, a feather or two short of the oncoming cars and they’re squabbling over the remains of a possum. #FirstBirdOfMyDay
Mine was a raven too although a European one. I’ve never seen a wild one at home but here in France a big, bold one swooped across the lane and landed, cronking, in a tree. #FirstBirdOfMyDay

One of the garden rock doves sitting on the roof, way before sunrise, waiting for breakfast.
