Actually it was a really shitty way. I'm sorry. I thought I was being disparaging to myself, but I realize my error. Thank you for pointing it out to me. God, I'm embarrassed. Again, thank you. Every day, keep deconstructing.
Thanks for this link!
I had never heard of his account until about 10min ago, but it came up on my feed (annoying default to “discover”). I reposted meme about TG.
@mskellymhayes.bsky.social ’s post was next. I deleted my repost.
On the one hand, the NA ancestry in my own family is obscured behind multiple layers of "Grandad didn't five a fuck" so trying to reconnect to that side of our legacy is mostly down to guesswork and what few documents we can dig up. So the struggle is real...
On the other hand, I don't claim any specific NA ancestry or enrollment for exactly that reason. I have no direct connection to the culture or traditions, just a record of what some old family stories and 100 year old document in Tennessee says is a Choctaw great grandfather. Seems like a stretch.
I don’t feel bad about following him up to this point because I trusted that he was Lakota and I never saw him post anything that I found odd or offensive. I know quite well the cult that white people make around native people and we sometimes idolize dishonest claimants. I knew one. I’ll check

What was worse was all the fawning comments from white people on his post. All these people wanting their “Dances with Wolves” moment. 🤦🏽♀️

Too late to screenshot but your post above was directly after one of his!
(I wasn’t following him and never use “discover”, but it may be bsky’s default like twitter.)
