Ive hated Gaiman for years because of the themes (and my opinion on the quality) of his writing (and it's inexplicable, to me, mass appeal), and while I'm not surprised, I certainly didn't know, or even suspect, that he was hurting women.

Not sure if you were able to read the Vulture article or not but it did attempt to make connections re: his scientology upbringing; peoples' accounts of his father's cruel nature; and abuse committed by his father, revealed by the church (maliciously) after being labeled a "suppressive person." /1

Yeah but he was literally using the abuse methods his Scientologist methods used on him, on his son. Obviously plenty of abused people turn out fine but it’s a shitty fact of reality that a good predictor for abusing people is being abused (not for all types of abuse but eh)

I think the take away from this and even from people like JK Rowling is that we shouldn't be idolizing artists/writers based on their works. We should be wary of how they use their popularity to perpetuate their ideals and/or criminal behavior.
