Hours after Matt Gaetz confirmed that he would not be coming back to Congress next year, the State of Florida issued an official notice for a special election to fill his seat. The primary will be January 28, 2025, and the special general election will be on April 1, 2025.

He gave up his seat when he got named AG, specifically to prevent the ethics report from being released. And then he withdrew from being AG the day after the ethics report was hacked and therefore in the wild. I'm sure both these events are a coincidence and there is nothing damning there
