A few years ago when the station building was operational, I went up the tower, to stand below its famous illuminated Mercedes star. Maybe I will again one day - but I’m not holding my breath!

This is where it gets interesting. I booked this expecting to book the 20:12 or even 21:12 Eurostar to London. Seems this Feb Saturday Eurostar are shutting up shop early, 19:12 the last one. So I’ve a 1h07 connection in Paris. Even with Carte Blanche, can’t afford delay >40 min.

Hah. Last year I had a trip from London to Paris that was 90 minutes late leaving on the way out (train broke down and wouldn't budge) and then an hour late getting back. To top it all when I got to Paddington with five minutes to spare, all the trains on the Penzance line were suspended.

Well done for doing it in 1 day. We returned from Innsbruck last summer; one crucial connection was cancelled before we travelled and the alternatives offered had REALLY tight changeovers. So we shifted our Eurostar booking to the following day and stayed over in Brussels. Lunch in the Grand Place 😀

To be pedantic, 3 is "roof over shortened existing platforms." Roofs look very 50s DB, but seems to have been extended outwards.

It is a massive project with all the new tunnels and track. I visit Stuttgart annually and am fascinated but still no definitive opening date. Have you seen Munich Hauptbahnhof recently ?
