Sorry, but normalization happened first and foremost because Democratic leaders failed to hold Trump accountable for ANYTHING. This started with the second impeachment -- which got a House vote without ANY effort to collect evidence beyond the public record.

2/ Biden (and Pelosi) wanted the focus on BIDEN and his agenda, and thought that doing an investigation and holding hearings would be a "distraction". So she took a vote, and handed the issue off to a 50-50 split Senate that did what Biden wanted, and took a vote merely because one was required.
