This week, there’s a big modern quilting convention happening in Phoenix (called QuiltCon). Look at this stunning quilt that won best in show. I did NOT make this, but I wanted to show the incredible art that is made by quilters.

I am super emotional and going through a pre-flight freak out, but I cried when they announced this as the winner. It is a gorgeous statue and amazing quilt.
It’s of course inspired by the 50ft Dignity of Earth and Sky sculpture in South Dakota. She’s receiving a quilt in the sculpture, and I just love seeing how it gets returned to quilting here.
If you want to see more of this art, check out the Modern Quilt Guild’s IG here. Quilting, and really all fiber arts, get overlooked as so often, it’s women doing the work. Just seeing and being aware of the art helps correct that. https://www.instagram.com/themqg?igsh=MTBraG56b3pzbTZ1Mg==
I just knew this was Veruschka’s work at first blush! Her work is stunning and her kits are top notch. I did her Elephant The Matriarch last year. That is one organized woman! I’m so happy for her!
