caveat here is the own goal. If that was from a Newcastle player’s boot, it’s probably around 0.4-0.6 xG. Either way, Palace had the lion’s share here.
This was a continuation of fantastic discipline in shape. Chalobah & guehi allowed wingbacks to push up while Lacroix was excellent in the middle of the defensive line. Lerma & Hughes allowed our front 3 to create & look dangerous.
Palace had great balance while Newcastle fully vacated the middle of the pitch.
In terms of WHERE the all often was, this was a fairly even affair. Most of the action was in the middle third.
This led to Palace doubling Newcastle’s touches in opponent’s box - 24 to 12.
He missed 2 big chances, but he was exceptional. No one had more attacking third tackles (3) - showing his aggression. He was 12/17 in duels, 7/7 on challenges against dribblers, & won more tackles (6) than any player
