I found a skull once whilst walking the kids, a human one. Cherry hinton Chalk pit, partially buried in the 'slide' down into the chalk pit from the field above.
Handed it over to the police, no idea what happened to it but it was very, very old.
Kids were well chuffed!

As far as I know it went to Cambridge university archaeology.
I've always felt that place needed a dig.
It's an ideal place for a fort right on top of a hill overlooking Cambridge.
And its chalk!

It's not a complete burial, only dogs and humans get the full treatment on this site, but horse heads do get placed in the base of pits quite a lot
