In this case less than 8hrs after he made the post. Obvious bad actor accounts I report are usually dealt with within 24hrs. Bluesky's moderation never ceases to amaze me.
it would be cool if there was some way to indicate "there are actually x accounts on this list, but you can't see some of them because they're banned or deactivated"
Is it normal for the list to appear blank? (This question is giving Bernard from Westworld “Doesn’t look like anything to me” vibes but I’m pretty sure I’m not AI.)
I can't understand the reason why these accounts exist. What are the incentives? What's the end goal of posting meaningless replies on random posts? It's all so weird
I used to check through accounts likes on twitter that were created ages ago but had been wiped for (I'm guessing) a new campaign. It would be fascinating to see the changes in persona for whatever they'd been doing before.
Then Voldemort took away viewing likes and things got harder.
ah right, I didn't consider the poor reach / engagement as a feature, but if the goal is to simply look like a bunch of internet folks on the platform that makes sense
i like to imagine that people at X are panicking and redirecting engineering hours to deploy a bunch of grok bots doing dumb meaningless but annoying replies to make bluesky look bad
I mean it's just account building to evade bans most likely, if you're posting "reasonably valid English text" that's not offensive or overtly "spammy", your account survives and builds "age" for when you switch to selling likes/reposts/followers/misinfo posting
Lots of people assume that the chain of custody for accounts used in disinfo campaigns would solely be the agency posting the disinfo, when in reality it's networks of social media spam bot herders being fed registered or compromised email accounts.
Everything is an economy of specialization now.
I believe some of the best attacks on bluesky could be formed at this time in the lifespan of the protocol/site.
Seeding in some "trusted" domains to the public sphere when you have less users is way easier and could give you some manipulation around the "verification" people are asking for.
E.g your identity that was relatively unknown now somehow is responsible for the "verification" of xyz journalist.
Still requires moderate hands on keyboard manipulation though
I do also suspect that you could use the public opinion around Dev choices(like adding "official" verification somehow) as a way to then influence the path atproto takes with bsky being the defacto and dejure leader in the space.
Fake Bsky users make bsky PBC feel threatened = change occurs that
you probably could create a "humanity index" that uses metrics about their average post length, word usage, reply-post-repost ratio, and follower count of a person's replies to get a pretty good idea of bot or not (at least as they behave rn)
OpenAI: "You know how social media can be really negative and shitty? With Chat GPT, you can now automate making social media terrible. We are the future of technology"
Awesome that we can actually just add this list to help mute/block accounts that others have marked already.
Another improvement versus that other application...

Not ideal.
How did you make it?
I get that it’s more work to run a labeler though.
You can't beat a machine.
Which is unironically one of the most reply-guy things to do
1. their goal is simply to devalue the platform (plenty of orgs have incentive to do so)
2. they're trying to embed themselves into the social graph and build up a positive reputation for whatever the "next stage" is
Then Voldemort took away viewing likes and things got harder.

So yes, totally normal.
