Think of it like a randomized logic puzzle in the setting of a haunted house. Each mission your goal is to complete a set of objectives, take pictures, and identify the ghost type based on your evidence and observations. Plus it has an amazing multiplayer community!!
house flipper is also so much fun. cities skyline frustrates me bc im not good at planning things in advance. raft is fun but it gets repetitive and would be more fun w people. gta is always a classic
but also skyrim is always a classic, bg3 is fun but definitely VERY involved. if ur looking for just chill games, powerwash simulator is great, a little to the left is fun but also drives me crazy
It's a game based in a future version of Detroit, MI, where Androids exist in different jobs. It takes the stories of 3 different Androids, from different walks of life, and you play as each of them as they navigate their stories, that eventually come together near the end.
The game is choice and quick time events, very story driven, emotional, and based on your choices, full of replayability. Its got great acting, gameplay, writing and graphics. It does handle dark themes like abuse and drug use, if things like that are triggering.
I also enjoyed the Batman Arkham games, Marvel's Spider-Man 1 & 2, Marvel's Miles Morales, Jedi Fallen Order, Jedi Survivor, Until Dawn, Immortals Fenyx Rising, South Park: The Stick of Truth and South Park: The Fractured But Whole.
totally unbiased but sonic frontiers, sonic x shadow generations, sonic superstars, sonic mania, sonic unleashed recompiled (a fan pc port thats scarily well optimized it can run on chrome book), team sonic racing, and the insomniac spider man games are peak
I was about to say fortnite so we can play together but you said no fighting games 😂😭 but dreamlight valley! it’s kinda like animal crossing but better.
Gotchu well if you want cozy and zero stakes, Tiny Glade is great. If you want political simulation and deep characters, Suzerain. Survival with customizable levels of challenge: The Long Dark. Ngl tho i just play apex legends 24/7 lol
What kinds of games do you like? I’m into ffxiv right now, it’s an MMO but you can do a lot by yourself especially in the early game and the free trial lasts a really long time. For single player games I like BG3 and dragon age Veilguard.
If you're just getting back into gaming, imo cozy games are best. Stardew Valley, as an example. If you come back and start playing elden ring you're probably gonna end up being miserable.
I’ve got so many recommendations now! Minecraft and animal crossing where my go tos. I don’t love fighting games just bc I suck at them. I did like Diablo years ago when I played. idk I think I’m gonna try one game from each genre to kinda narrow down my thoughts
Make sure you have time to abandon all else because of the brilliance. My husband and I are on our 7th playthrough and still loving every moment. Laundry? Dishes? Meh.
it's a cute farm sim with magic and you get to restore the town and collect things for the museum. very cozy and cute!!! HOT NPCs !!!! it's very hard to be bi and play this game ⚠️
i haven’t gamed in so long so i don’t even really know. I don’t love combat heavy games because I suck at them. I love to follow a good story so maybe that!
FINAL stage of my spam is coral island (kinda a farming simulator), subnautica (underwater base building survival kinda game like Minecraft) and I believe you should be able to play Stardew Valley on ps5 which is a peaceful cozy farming simulator in a little village. Super slow paced
Also! Life Is Strange (it’s older than the others) is a fun story driven game with choices where you can grow attached to the characters as well. The dialog is… a bit cringey considering it’s like 10 years old, but I really loved the story
Seconding the vote for Detroit Become Human! You could also try Until Dawn or The Quarry - they’re kinda like cheesy horror movies that you “play along”, making choices for characters and setting the path of the story by doing so. I like the quarry for its easier difficulty settings lol
imo it's always worth getting a little bit of emulation set up on the pc, play some ye olde games that inspired the modern release ones while you wait for the price to drop
HORIZON.ZERO.DAWN (and then Forbidden West) either on PS5 or PC but your experience will probably be better in the PlayStation bc it was an exclusive there for awhile.
i loved animal crossing when I had my switch! i used to play Diablo on xbox long ago and enjoyed it! I don’t really like fighting games. id really like something with a throughout story if that makes sense. I just don’t know where to start!
try ooblets! it's light hearted, lovely art, has a bit of pokemon and stardew valley in it but it's so quirky and cute. the story isn't the main focus, but it has a story with a very nice conclusion when you've unlocked everything :)
Omg ok amazing. Hello kitty island adventure is very animal crossing vibes but with hello kitty characters, and it has like story based quests which I love. Life is strange is one of the first story rich games I played (and now there’s 5 games in the universe!) and may be a good place to start!!
oh i definitely recommend life is strange for story focus! which also reminds me of what remains of edith finch - it's 75% off right now on steam. avoid if you're sensitive to stories of loss/death right now. it's creepy/sad but so cool and beautiful imo!
Persona is a really fun series! The games run pretty long as most JRPGs do which is good if you're looking for something that'll keep you entertained for a while and the turn based battle system is a lot of fun imo.

it’s a game. about digging a hole.

Spider-Man Remastered
Elden Ring
Cyberpunk 2077
You get a lot of free games included. Go crazy.
Same with God of War and God of War ragnarok. Just pick the easiest difficulty and you’ll have a great time!
When all else fails, Minecraft :D
Daughter is mad about Farming Simulator on the PS.
