I like when clearly fake AITAH posts on Reddit start with “sorry for bad English, it’s not my first language” followed by perfect English and use of distinctly American slang
The English language is honestly so fucking boring that minorities and different races need to not speak it 100% correctly just to make it sound interesting.
I know this is a joke, but as a former language teacher I think people would benefit from knowing that, if you want to help someone with their language learning, the best practice is to find a natural way to repeat what they said the "correct" way without drawing a bunch of attention to it.
"Oh cool. You saw a cute cat this morning. I love cats."
It's literally what they teach educators at the graduate level, and it's backed up by plenty of research. It's a way of correcting errors without increasing the speaker's anxiety about speaking.
That said, as long as you understand what someone said, they're communicating properly. There's literally no reason to do anything about it unless you can't understand what they're trying to say, or you know they want help improving their skills.
Lol, just wait till you learn that all those are Adult Gohan, and the final one is Beast Gohan—who may be strongest in the Dragon Ball universe at the moment.
to them i say, do not apologize for anything, you’re already doing way better in what is at least your second language than i am capable of doing in mine!
This is just the vibe I get from English; It almost always sounds insincere and casual even when somebody is describing a difficult personal situation (which I feel contributes to certain cries for help not being picked up on by others). It's also a very corporate language nowadays.
Ironically, I think that there is some truth to this: a lot of Brazilians are much more worried about speaking Bad Spanish with other Latinos than speaking bad English with people that have English as native tongue.
@hades69.bsky.social não ironicamente esse mindset me ajudou muito kkkkk só falar em inglês sem se preocupar muito se está correto, falar escrever etc !!!
