In case you can’t quite imagine life without accurate weather prediction, consider two devastating historical storms. The first was the 1888 Schoolhouse Blizzard, when the NWS was just 18 years old; the 1938 Long Island Hurricane came along before we had modern method of tracking hurricanes.
