I’m frequently reminded that it took me 7 years from the time I sorted it out til I got access to hrt. It’s a big reason why I encourage people to start as soon as they know. It’s the most worthwhile experience of my life

I feel as tho I should mention I figured it out as a minor and was in a hostile environment to the idea at the time. If you feel unsafe now things do get better. It’s worth sticking it out for. Trust the process

i have killer ocd and one of my intrusive thoughts for a long time was that i "wasnt actually trans," among other factors that stopped me from starting. it took a while to realize "oh, that thought is upsetting because it's not true. nobody who is faking worries if they're faking"

i will be hitting my 4 year hrt anniversary next month and it is very comforting to know that i have continued to say yes to transition, every one of the 400+ jabs in my leg is me continuing to say yes, i am me, and this makes me happy.

i know i had bad imposter syndrome bc the transmascs in my life all started hrt at 18-21, and i felt like i'd missed my window. i turn 30 this year, and i'm glad i started at all. i'd still be glad if i started at 40 or 50 or older.

Being cis, I only just learned that friends of mine rely on non-conventional means to access hrt, because the government here (AU) are such pricks about it. All I can say, is that getting into community with others is vital. Even if you can get it legally for now.

I'm not sure. Sometimes I think that it would.

I think that what most appeals to me is having a more natural body proportions. And that's when I see the awesome changes that happened to other people, makes me think about what I would look if I try it.

It sounds to me like you’d very much benefit from at least trying it. Dysphoria doesn’t always feel like looking in the mirror and saying “ugh I hate this”, it can be feeling neutral about your body but wishing you had something else

Plus, hrt’s effects are largely reversible so if you start hormones, then decide they’re not right for you and stop [particularly within the first few months], you’ll basically go back to the way you were, knowing for sure you’re making the right call

Can confirm, dysphoria didn’t feel to me like what I expected. Now I know I was feeling it all along; 45 years not recognizing my misery for what it was. Since becoming aware of it, I notice it a whole lot more, and for more reasons than I thought at first. Impossible to cram those feels away now.
