Weekly reminder to US followers:
I am #Australian 🇦🇺
I live in Australia
We have our own democracy to fight for
We have our own federal election 🗳️on May 3
Our RW conservatives are known oxymoronically as the #LiberalParty

I've always found the way US people use the word confusing. What do they mean?
It is global
Billionaire club
#Rinehart
#Forrest interfering with our democracy
We have no numbered 'amendments'.
And our schools are actually SCHOOLS,
NOT shooting ranges.
Big difference on a whole lot of levels
I’m in australia too and have been Australian for about 15 years.
I am also Canadian, having been born there a number of years ago.
Both countries are in election campaigns right now, 🇨🇦 April 28 and 🇦🇺 May 3
Interesting times

TL;DR: Vote Labor Australia (or at worst, preference them over Libs)
Also, australia has the wonderful preferential voting system and MANY more options than ALP and LNP. I personally want a wider spectrum of voices in parliament and the senate
And no, you think you’re “much more engaged” but I think you may have a bit of confirmation bias on that statement.
“This is not a friendly act” - Albo on our tariffs. He doesn’t like Trump.
Australia’s Tesla sales have plummeted down. In April when new tariffs hit us, that’s when Trump/US will embody the common enemy.
What Trump is doing now is called Fascist Aggression and it’s used by fascists to establish discontent and gauge how strong various countries are.
Saying both parties are as bad as each other is the middle ground fallacy.
Why people want a PM to waste time with the US is beyond me. Wait until they put tariffs on us or after a PM is elected. (Albo I hope)
Tariffs don’t tax the country we’re buying from - they tax our exporting industry. That increases inflation. Libs would blame Albo.
+ Australia hasn’t had the level of tariffs Canada and Mexico have - YET.
Things look very grim in UK
As in Aus
The poors are being abandoned by all major parties
It's very US top heavy here and I'm sure many newbies don't read bios!

1. It's a very tight coalition.
2. It's only 3 characters for the BlueSky character count
3. It means we don't confuse our non-Australian followers when we say something negative about Liberals
4. Most Australians know what I mean.
The Australian Liberal Party and The Nationals (LNP - the "coalition" is the equivalent of the US GOP. (the right-wing party)
The Australian Labor Party is the equivalent of the US Democrats.
Americans don't know much of the world outside of their US echo chamber. Many Yanks would struggle to find Canada on a map.
