It's not only easy to find a strong argument against capital punishment if you look for it, it's pretty hard not to notice a whole shitload of them unless you're deliberately trying not to see them.

I think the only pro-argument is that once somebody's been executed, they're highly unlikely to reoffend and that kind of falls apart when you consider that there's only about 20% likelihood they were the one who did the crime they're being executed for.

Retroactive studies have shown this for decades. Was the clincher for me as a teenager to be against capital punishment. Later learning its unequal application just re-enforced my opposition.

Is "factual innocence" just the wording for introducing new evidence? Seems strange that he could be retried after a finding of factual innocence.

I have no words for the numbers of overturned convictions. Can it be purely because of death penalty eligible jurors?

Factual innocence means you've been prove innocent to a certain evidentiary standard.
