Many of us have tried changing minds of anti-trans activists, anti-abortionists, Islamaphobes, etc. since message board days, ordinary folk to politicians.
It doesn't work. It sucks up time and effort for nowt.
There's enough coverage of Badenoch's vile views in the media. Don't need it here too.
I just don't want to get back to a place where twitter was nonstop right wing bile. People saying big news on the government tomorrow Kier is going down etc etc. that's not where my views sit so why should I be forced fed it. No matter what you do and how many you block. Discover was always the same
Do you have the slightest notion of how much many of us have tried that only to see them get more extreme? If you want to debate people who want you removed from society, by all means go ahead. Personally I think you'd be more likely to succeed in drinking the Atlantic, but you're welcome to try.
Nope. It isn't your job and doesn't work most of the time. People can only change their views when they actually want them challenged, not when you show up in their replies. Thanks, Cognitive Dissonance
We've tried that on sites like Twitter, it didn't work. FWIW, I don't really want any politics on my blue sky feed (I can do that elsewhere), so I'm not really interested in seeing the politics of anyone.
it's not about changing minds it's about a very deliberate far right strategy to dominate every online space with exhausting circular debate to confuse and demoralise the opposition and it's ridiculous that people still aren't getting that because they've been doing it for fifteen years
Isn't this the problem? You can't discuss on here with any nuance. It's not conducive to that. It's transactional and instant. Twitter became toxic for many reasons, not just Elon and his tactics. It was slipping before he bought it and barely held together.

Sometimes I just want to sit quietly looking at pictures of trees and pubs, as opposed to debating the merits of the welfare state! 😂

Why do we have to give our unpaid labour.
Talking to people of opposing views is Lewis's job. He gets paid for it.
It really does feel like work when the trolls keep popping up in the relies.
And I mean 'eureka' changed, not 'agreed with you to escape the conversation' changed.
Since when does reason ever penetrate extreme right wing dogma?
The right wing parties (as they are now) wouldn’t exist if evidence, logic, or decency were relevant to their support base.
Why is the onus on me to engage that and not the onus on them to be civil human beings?
Blue Sky is not the debate society. It's social media. You pick and choose who and what you wish to follow
Certainly not on here or social media, anyway
And it's too instantly emotive and unhealthy
