I think Webster has the more solid technique, plays the short ball well and rotated the strike with ease. Looks so much more an opener than Konstas? I’d try hi opening v Sri Lanka.
Oh I think without question: I mean, who are you going to replace him with? They clearly don’t want to go back to Bancroft or Harris, and I don’t see where Renshaw or Hunt are improvements on Konstas
And tbf you saw with McSweeney the other benefit of a Warner-esque opener for Australia: when it was just McSweeney and Khawaja it just placed even more pressure on a rickety and ageing middle order. Konstas when he comes off will at least put the pressure back on opposing bowlers
I can't see the play (no TNT). Does he really look that good, max 62? Same vibe as Baz ball player/Crawley? Should England worry about him? (these are questions not opinions)
I mean...there are test tours of Sri Lanka and West Indies as well as a WTC final between now and then. Much as those countries are children of a lesser god in the "white countries plus India" order of international cricket - much can change between now and the Ashes 👍🏽
Ah OK, fixtures wasn't showing on cricinfo, but 3 test series has been announced.
That does give them time to pivot if SL doesn't go well for him. Though hopefully they'll give him a decent crack, playing that high risk he's bound to have a high variance.

They really like him, so think he's in.
