The Starmer aide/AI stuff feels a bit canary/coalmine because this isn't letting electoral factors triumph over good governance or sinply doing something I don't like - things every government does - this is falling for a scam. There are people in Nunber 10 who are just idiots.

There's nothing more frustrating than to hear Trump voters saying they didn't vote for this. It's not as if Trump isn't the most chronicled & easily understood criminal in modern political history.

The concentration of wealth in the hands of an elite few isn't just bad for our economy. It's corrosive to our democracy. When the wealthy and well-connected control our political system, the American people don't have a voice. The result is demagoguery and corruption.

Exactly, wherever you are join a union, there is power in the collective. Stand strong as a group. Nothing happens if we stand strong together, trump/musk don't actually do anything, it happen in the last century, we need re learn that lesson. #billybragg

Media shying away from calling things what they are will be our downfall if this continues. What this should say is: Bannon whipped up CPAC crowd by talking about possibility of Trump unconstitutionally staying in office for third term—and concluded his speech with a Nazi salute like Musk did.

so then it's not a cost-cutting team, is it

“Supporting Trump was not a popular thing with many of my friends and family members. I did it nevertheless. If Trump really said that Ukraine started the war, I feel deeply ashamed for my naivety. I strongly assume that most decent people feel the same way.” #LeopardsAteMyFace

I'm not having Fraser Nelson playing dumb on the rise of racism on the right after years spent printing Murray, Liddle, Taki and Shriver. I literally had a DM row with him years ago where I said this would happen.

Medicaid is not for sale. NASA is not for sale. The Post Office is not for sale. America is not for sale. We have an obligation to resist kings. We outnumber them. And they can be overwhelmed.

Powerful. Tomorrow’s front page of the most influential weekly publication in Germany. “BETRAYED. First Zelensky, Soon Us? The radical departure of the US from its allies.”

People keep bemoaning the lack of leaders in the liberal democratic world - and I echo them. But we overlook Zelenskyy, who is as admirable a symbol of courage, resolve, clarity and righteousness as you will find.

Hard to describe what it's like being in Kyiv, surrounded by brilliant, unshakeable, brave Ukranians, and reading Trump's comments. The free world deserves a better leader, the hill deserves a better city upon it, and these people deserve better friends.

Among those Trump and Musk fired at the FAA: - Lawyers who help keep drunk or reckless pilots out of the skies - Air traffic control support staff - Employees who track potential new flying hazards like cranes - Staffers who medically clear pilots to fly www.rollingstone.com/politics/pol...

Just looking at the latest YouGov poll - the Tories are on 9% with people under 50. It is not clear to me how this helps with that problem.

An apt moment for a remarkable piece of journalism, documenting Russia’s seemingly systematic murder of Ukrainian PoWs. (By @christopherjm.ft.com @joesinft.ft.com & the visual investigations team) on.ft.com/4gLNn61

Brexit: “that great victory for the sovereign right to cock things up”… give ourselves food poisoning, lose control, swamp ourselves in red tape, pay more for stuff and stubbornly isolate ourselves from our own continent… A relentless, ruinous stupidity. (Private Eye)

This was just 233 days ago:

BREAKING: Keir Starmer has spoken to President Zelenskyy and backed him after Trump’s attacks. “The PM expressed his support for Zelenskyy as Ukraine’s democratically elected leader and said that it was perfectly reasonable to suspend elections during war time as the UK did during World War II."

🇺🇸❗️🇪🇺 European diplomat tells Politico: "The transatlantic alliance has broken down, and now there is an alliance between the Russian and American presidents to destroy Europe."

“Oh it’s too simplistic to say he’s a Russian asset”

Jeff Bezos’ Washington Post would not run this ad. This is the power of oligarchy.

If you missed today's newsletter, in which I said 'look, come on, we really do need to be increasing spending back to 1966 to 1990 levels and it's mad to think you can get political consent for that without increasing spending elsewhere', don't worry: I will be saying it for most of the year I think

Pretty disturbed by some of the Kremlin framing on the Trump talks being bought by parts of the media worldwide. It’s as if the genesis of the war is entirely forgotten. This isn’t a conflict which needs mediation. It was an unprovoked act of aggression. It could end tomorrow if Putin just withdrew.

Go ahead. Let the people see you for what you are.

💥Peter Kellner: "I quite like using numbers to make sense of the what is going on. Yet sometimes they are not enough. If they were, the fact that Brexit has cost Britain’s economy 4-5% of GDP would be a major national scandal." A 🧵 with some of the most exposing stats from Peter's latest blog👇 1/

This is the nub of the article that I disagree with. Sticking to the evidence *requires* picking a side on many issues that should never have been politics but now are: climate change, vaccines, public health... Staying neutral denies the science and that can't be scientific or right.
