Well why wouldn't they? They know they'll get away with it because the Democrats are so inept.

Hakeem is just acting tough here so he can go back and say he fought for something when he folds like a cheap suitcase before the Ides of March.

This is a tricky situation. They can prevent the shutdown on their own. But they hate government, so their members want to shut it down and probably won't open large parts of it back up.
And then they'll blame the Dems for the end of SS:
