No. I’ve lived and worked around the UK for 25+ years (Oxford, Manchester, Cardiff, Coventry, Leicester,Canterbury - so including in Kent around the millennium…) and, just, no.

& the government has never commemorated VJ Day except when forced (mostly 1995 & even then was complicated).
There’s no real way to talk about the war in Asia w/o being confronted by the end of the British empire.
That’s why 1995 focused on FEPOWs - individuals who suffered, not geopolitical change.
