I genuinely don’t get this. He’s a legitimate Wooden award candidate who’s living up to an insane hype machine at one of the premiere front facing colleges and there’s so ho-hum behind it.
Are NBA fans now sophisticated enough to never expect a rookie to meaningfully improve the win total for their team? If you’re a Wizards fan Cooper wouldn’t be good enough to lead to the playoffs until 2028 so why get excited now?
I don't think that has anything to do with it given we're 18 months removed from Wemby hype and he certainly made the Spurs a lot more fun to watch immediately and competitive sooner than that. That comparison is unfair to put on any other prospect but Flagg looks special in his own right.
My kids get so tired of me pointing out every single person who is moderately famous who has a connection to Maine. 😆 My husband grew up in Los Angeles and doesn’t get why I get so excited. But me, I’m automatically a big fan of every Mainer on the national scene.
