Not the same scale, but ages ago I visited a local flooded quartz mine and swam in ice cold green water under arches of white quartz and then goddamn Atlas Obscura posted about it and in a few years it was full of trash & graffiti and the municipality petitioned to dynamite it to stop people coming

Also when I was a kid I remember some asshole tried to kill The Treaty Oak in Austin, TX by pouring herbicide on it. Some people really do just want to watch the world burn.
Do some exploring, and find your cool places, theres a LOT out there.
I was in on it early and respected the places, but soon they were trashed, the banks eroded, and the water cloudy
Or shout, "THIS...IS...CANADA! before kicking them into a pit.
I know cool places where if you ask the natives for directions, they'll send you off on a wild goose chase.
I don't know what it is that makes some people turn into fucking vandals when encountering beauty, but it's a trait we should've tried to breed out of our species long ago.
