To be clear, whether he was criminally responsible or not, he killed a man by accident. Even when justified, it’s not something to celebrate, it’s something to mourn.

It really seemed the manslaughter charge should've stuck.
And I don’t think you believe that, but I do think this guy did and maybe the jury did too, even if unconsciously.
I don't believe in destigmatisation, I just prefer we see a need to rescue people in that state.
There should be stigma, but the shame attaches to all of us unless we try to fix it.
I'm a retired Marine and remember quite clearly when we were taught the reverse choke during MCMAP (Marine Corps Martial Arts Program).
We were taught that as soon as the person went limp, to release because they were no longer a threat AND we could cause irreparable /1
