Nancy was always the first comic I went to in the Toledo Blade newspaper since I learned to read in 1961 (age 5). Pickett elementary school. My Kindergarten teacher was Ms Perkins.
I can't believe I remember this so clearly just now - 63 yrs later.
Perhaps a personal failing on my part, but even when reading this strip back in the days of newspapers that quite literally stank, I always found these characters to be ugly, dull, and massively stupid. Never got the attraction.
Nancy really hit rock bottom after this and got involved with a series of second-rate cartoon characters. Then she met the love of her life--Henry. Henry was the real deal even if he wasn't much of a conversationalist.
