I really love following this account. I had no idea of the history of this strip - just vague memories of not-that-funny strips in the newspaper in the 70s.
that has happened more than once, when the original creator dies not much care is taken to select a replacement strip author. Check out the original Popeye strip, 1929 to 1938 by E.C. Segar.
Occasionally a strip will stumble onto a new writer or artist who brings new life to it after decades. Bobby London for Popeye, Olivia Jaimes for Nancy. It would have still been better to let them end though and open the comics to more new characters.
Used to think the same -- Classic Peanuts is taking up space on the page from artists who are working now! I suppose it's less true now that we're mostly looking at the strips on web pages.
I like this because it means sluggo is a humanitarian who doesnt believe in dead animals as food! He assumed the chicken is alive and a happy muppet on a bike. Good on you slug-man
Another reason to buy that contraption at a bike shop and not a chain store, you dumb cluck! They'll make sure you ride out on a frame that's the correct size!

My mind:
We had humor on our side.
