I've noticed that the Nancy comics from WWII don't seem to really mention the war or home front stuff like rationing. I wonder if it's kinda like how a lot of our media in 2020 either totally ignored COVID or didn't talk much about it long term.
According to my Nana back in the 40's there weren't supermarkets. So you didn't go to A store you went to a street or district where stores were. You would get bread from a bakery, meat from a butcher, etc. No one said, "I'm going to THE store," you would say, "I'm going to the butcher,"
