It strikes me that having seen what the sovcit 'common law' crowd will do when they think something is unlawful under their made up law it is *breathtakingly* irresponsible for the government to provide a "read the act and see what you think is a crime" blank cheque to private citizens to use force.

He’s head of a dairy owners business group, spoke up when Labour tried to get rid of smokes in dairies because he worried they’d lose most business (but other dairies have worried thieves target them for ciggies). Failed run as National candidate, then got appointed to this group.

So how will these self-proclaimed public police know an act is illegal? I doubt they’ve got law degrees. And if someone claims innocence, are they going to presume guilt? And if they DO “arrest” someone who turns out to be innocent, what are the likely damages they’ll have to pay out? FFS!!!
