Canadian online adult content creators/studios/performers!
The CRTC has just put out its opinion that though they'll collect fees from porn sites, porn won't be considered CanCon.

I'm trying to find the opinion you're referring to. Is it this, referring to "adult programming"?

Part of me doesn't want porn to be Can Con at all. But it's still programming and huge companies still have to pay. It's just this cultural touchstone that we're out of that isn't sitting well. Calling 210 vibes for sure.
When I saw that 210 was going forward with no edits despite how long it’s been before parliament and the discussions I’ve had with MPs I just KNEW other things were going to quietly come down the pipe 😒
Is there a 210 update I don't know about?! Did it move more?
It’s at report stage about to have its third/last reading this month 😒 I’m having trouble remembering the exact date but I’ve been tracking it
Luckily I've been eyes-deep in the Online Streaming Act for a couple of years now, so I can share that wisdom.
But maybe they wouldn't if we didn't keep getting sidelined as not culturally valuable.
If the production has all the "receipts" to prove they qualify as Canadian content, then they ARE Canadian content. I suspect this is more about not becoming fodder for the Poilievre rage farming.
They're cool taking porn money, but because porn wouldn't be Can Con, adult businesses can't take advantage of the benefit framework despite being "programs" under the new Broadcasting Act.
