All of the dumbass dipshits who say this never actually have anything like hard evidence or proof that piracy impacts livelihoods, no numbers, no charts or graphs, they have nothing except endless vibes-based scolding and an unearned sense of their own rightness

Yes, piracy is theft.
This is an exhausting and idiotic as hell argument.
Stealing people’s livelihood is a shit move. Don’t do it.

He is saying "PIRATE EVERYTHING".
Pirate that indie book your friend published, that indie game made a small studio of four people in someone's garage, etc etc
If you want to do that, do it.
Don't pretend it isn't shitty, though.
You know what's really beneficial to the creator? Respecting their wishes.
That independent creators also get their stuff pirated? How is that fake?
I think about that from time to time
Not sure what you're seeing that I am not.
I'm seeing a man shouting about pirating "everything", because he doesn't care about his own stuff getting pirated, so he extrapolates that this somehow means that it's fine to pirate everything from everyone.
Nowhere he makes any exception.
Where does that money come from if people are pirating his work instead of buying it, as per that guy advice?
that’s such an entitled statement.
If there's no free alternative it's irrelevant whether the customer only wants it for free.

Morally speaking, Massive layoffs before release of a project where people working on it would have been given a bonus on a good project if they weren't fired is a greater theft to be addressed.
the closest thing that "piracy bad" has to an argument is bellyfeels and it has been that way for DECADES.
That also doesn't get into how live service games sell a perpetual license and shut down forever.
This is beautifully written it is worth a detour to read the story. This also gives me confidence on their skills. Worth.
Really hoping his work extends further. Here is the video

I do really hope this incentive goes somewhere.
No company should just be able to hit a magic off switch and make the thing you paid for unusable.
Especially as a lot of his criticism are things that would be revised as the idea comes together.
(Because shut up, usually)
Man, this is an ESPECIALLY stupid fucking argument to trot out in regard to fucking WOTC and D&D of all things. They're just fucking rentseekers squatting atop an existing IP and and culture that has existed just fine without them and will continue to do so.
Everything is free game ?
Would you not consider AI art just companies pirating art ? Which by this logic is fine.
Then company uses ai to generate art and not hire artist… so is that a bad form of piracy ?
