LinkedIn has gotten so depressing lately, it's all doomposting about veterans quiting their industry, layoffs, impossible job searches. My mental health has gotten better since I started spending more time here
I have a linkedin, and tbh its like, the weirdest social media site. Just the weird self promotion culture and fake hype/guides/how to`s/THIS IS HOW I MADE MY FORTUNE types just ick me out
For real, it's so intimidating to me for some reason, makes me feel like I'm not supposed to post there cause I'm not doing anything crazy career wise lmao
This reminds me of the earlier days of twitter when it felt a bit more personal. Everyone is by and large a bit nicer because the community is smaller. I know it won't last, but I'm enjoying it while it does.
Glad to have you here, Jeff! The more wholesome folks the merrier.
Yup, it'll be interesting to see how it develops going forward but so far I like how the leadership team has presented itself. I hope it becomes more than "just another" social media experiment or alternative to twitter.
I only see Reddit and Twitter show up in the top 10 of my YouTube analytics from time to time. Otherwise it's like Google, Bing, my website, other sites like arstechnica...
LinkedIn feed works so perfectly that I congratulated a friend to starting a new job weeks after he quit. For some reason LinkedIn thought it should show months old "John Doe started a new job" as the very first post.
I don't think most of the people still over on 'X' are happy either. My problem is there are some communities more here, some there, some on Mastodon, and a very very tiny slice over on Threads for some reason

It's tough to be big enough to have a global audience yet small enough that the allure of massive investments can't corrupt things.
