Interesting: https://www.abi.org.uk/news/news-articles/2025/2/motor-claims-hit-record-11.7-billion-in-2024/.
Some of this is theft, but a lot due to drivers crashing their cars into other cars, people etc.
That's despite decades of engineering vehicles and the highway environment.
Or at least partly BECAUSE of attempting to accommodate bad driving.

The ABI only refer to drivers trying to drive properly as a solution in just 1 of these 10 points, and then under "road safety". https://www.abi.org.uk/globalassets/files/subject/public/motor/2024/motor-insurance-affordability-roadmap.pdf

If I understand correctly ( if) it seems that some cars are fitted with braking systems which do not read a scene correctly if reflective surfaces are viewed. This seems significant.
Advice to rod users to wear reflective gear has heightened their risk with such systems.
While not having a law degree, if correct, this may affect settlements in many RTCs. Loophole lawyers be aware.
I say this as reducing speed didn't get much of a mention🤔
