I looked into my footprint the other day. Google - ad block and completely refuse to use if they manage to stop me. My cards are American (aren't everyone's?) so I'll increase my usage of cash. My weekly guilty takeaway breakfast will no longer be McDs. New soft drink brands. That's... about it.
Same here:food, clothes, drinks, software, even hard drives. Services like banking and insurance
Difficult for credit card, some PC components, trying very hard every day to go local and small companies
I don't imagine an unfocussed, 1-day boycott has much impact at all. What was it aiming to achieve? Much better, as you say, to target them over a longer period, if necessary even focussing on one company at a time. Have a clear goal in mind. Plan it like a project. Have milestones.
#YerDoinItRight!!! I was just discussing with one of my coworkers that the only way such a thing might actually have an impact is if millions of people did a marathon boycott instead of a sprint. I hope people're willing t'do it!!!!
And there are many really good alternatives - step by step can get rid of many US services and goods. I already cancelled Amazon, Google/YouTube premium, shifted the browser, search, AI chat, translator, maps ...etc. and it doesn't cost me anything, actually saving money to donate to Ukraine.
