Good morning, Bluesky! It's St. Nicolas Day. When I lived in Germany, we'd put our shoes outside the door the night before and find them filled with small gifts in the morning. In my family, it was always slightly different. We all got together on the afternoon of the 6th. We put the shoes out and then had coffee/hot chocolate and cookies or cake. After that, when it got dark, we checked the shoes. I'm still doing it that way. 😍 looking forward to this afternoon 🎅

We do keep the afternoon cookies/cake & coffee tradition. Every day, not just now. I made a cake last night, in fact. Husband would divorce me if there wasn't one at the ready, all the time. 😲

Oh, that sounds like fun. Especially as you continue the tradition here. We lived south of Munich (husband is German) so usually went to Austria with friends who had a house in the Alps. Krampus always came, sweeping through the village, into the inns, also visiting homes. So much fun. 😃

Thanks. I was raised to love folklore and always will. It still lives and breathes in 'Old Europe' and I miss living there, the appreciation people held for tradition/old customs. Especially this time of year. So I enjoy it in my memories, posts here, and what I can recreate now living here.
