Remember in 2000 when a voter purge felt like a fresh, new terror. Now it’s just something that happens
every
Single
Election.
And we tell other countries how to run their elections.
Texas is so gerrymandered and voter suppressed it makes other red states look like amateurs. Texas is very likely Blue but is held hostage by the crooked trifecta red that manipulates every facet of the election. Paxton alone is ruthless because a Dem government would have found him guilty years ago
I feel like Texans aren’t paying attention. There are more people who are eligible to vote but don’t vote. I don’t know how this message can be passed along and make sure they’re aware to register and remember to vote.
+ text your friends and get them to put the word out on social media to check reg and then ask each of them to text their friends to post the same message on their respective accounts and so on and so on
Many of the Texans who don't vote are "unpolitical" country folk. Most assume they're conservative and that their vote doesn't really matter.
When I became eligible ('00) I also assumed my vote didn't matter.
I have a helluva time getting my brother-in-law and his wife to vote. It's maddening, especially this year since the entire extended family is explicitly being targeted by Trump.
It is always weird to hear about how other states do elections. In Southern states, they're purging voter rolls. In California, they've done away with polling places and you can register to vote on election day.
