Why in the f&ck does CBC keep giving airtime to the not elected to anything, Pierre Poilievre? He's squatting in Stornoway, he has no seat and is now a private citizen. #cdnmedia #cdnpoli

must be going for sensational and low hanging fruit. . .the media did the same with T and
became a megaphone for him and inadvertantly contributed to his rise to power . . .now they hav all lost their jobs
He should be locked out of Stornoway immediately! Have security walk his ass out the front gate. It has nothing to do with taking the high road.He is no longer employed by the federal government.
Nobody wants to believe they support the right just because they are CBC. They gave no support to Justin Trudeau. So you think they will support Mark Carney. They support grifter and liar Pierre Poilievre. They may be Canadian but they aren’t for Canada. Trash needs to be taken out there. 🇨🇦
Their KPI is clicks. They’ve resorted to rage baiting so people will click through to read the story and they can sell more advertising which begs the question: why does taxpayer funded media prioritize advertisers over the citizens of the country they own their very existence to?
I dunno 🤷♀️
The liberal and NDP commentators are usually so good too. Thoughtful willing to criticize when warranted mostly
And then the cons😳 sound like they’re campaigning. David C usually does a good job of pushing back on the stupidest things but I think the hosts just become inured to it.
CBC gets around half its funding from advertising. The Libs say they intend to increase funding (and reduce the influence corporate accounts can wield) among other improvements
Falling back on a technicality won't make things better for the Liberal government. Polly will win his byelection and be restored to his position as party leader. Why do you want to be seen as cheap and petty by moderate Conservatives who may have supported Carney?
I understand why Poilievre is not being pushed to move out of Stornoway. However, until the byelection is settled, he should be paying market value rent, utilities, staff, groceries, etc. to stay there. If roles were reversed, Liberal butt would have been out in a heartbeat.
#neverpoiLIEvre should only be a hashtag, not a stain or wasted pixels on CBC or ANY media outlet. He's getting MONTHS worth of free advertising. Andrew Scheer is bad enough, but the freeloading squatter shouldn't be there.
He is not the leader of the opposition. Andrew Scheer is.
He's Conservative Party Leader but by letting Scheer slide on providing comment so Poilievre can hog the spotlight they're letting him get away with a pretense that benefits him.
Nenshi didn't lose an election, he's been waiting for Smith to call a by-election. It's not the same at all. Poilievre's own constituents made him a private citizen, yet our media keeps acting like he actually has a government title.
The good electors of Carleton chose their MP. They did not choose who would be party leader, any more than the electors of Beauce chose the leader of the PPC, or the electors of Outremont chose the leader of the Greens. Those are separate things.
Technically because the CPC still has him as its leader. But honestly I don’t believe an unelected person should be allowed to remain in government. And that goes for all the parties.
He's a squatter but he'll be re-elected soon in his Alberta safe seat - Doing this feels like a stunt for no good reason & it plays into Polievre's narrative & gives him ammo
Let him squat there until he's legally allowed to stay. Its in all our best interests to stop with cheap politics IMO

Look to the US to see how that helped them!!! 🤦🏽♀️ Get the fuk out or pay your fkn rent!!! Nobody but a MapleMAGA grifter at this point!! 🤪 Gives him ammo for what?!! He lost his seat & the election!!!! The message was pretty clear from all Canadians, not just Carleton riding (his other “safe” seat)!!

It's the erosion of Parliamentary norms, today it's a private citizen staying in an official residence, what will it be next? He just has a seat handed to him because he's a party leader? Slippery slopes, look south.
PomPom has no legitimate political position. Stop showing his meaningless pressers, kick his grifting ass out of Stornoway. He is a private citizen. The only seat he has is in his bathroom. PomPom is a loser and a disgrace.
They are still trying to ingratiate themselves to the convoy protesters. CBC has been focussed on western division since harper changed the board of directors. The other 75% of Canada, is not cbc's audience for more than a decade.
I find it curious, don’t you, that the smarmy, insipid, entitled little wannabe could give a damn about the press and never gave an honest interview during all 6 weeks of the federal election cycle, yet NOW….now you can’t escape media interviews by him. Stupid Canadian press! Tell him to get lost!
The guy is still the Cons Leader de facto ..that's why they're obligated to air his vitriolic rhetoric..that's his PARTYS FAULT ..Snap a leash on your mut the conservative image wasn't much or great to begin with ..not the CBC..the CONSERVATIVE PARTY !!! ..thanks for listening
Cute but wrong. Poilievre was fired by his own constituents and they keep acting like he is actually still an elected official. He's living in a government funded official residence he has no right to be in. The issue isn't whether I agree with him or not, it's that he's being treated like he has...
He is still the leader of the Official Opposition…seat or no seat…
He will very likely win one in a couple of months and demanding he vacate Stornaway and then move back in strikes me as somewhat vindictive and something I would expect from Conservatives…
No. He is not the Leader of the Official Opposition, you must be a sitting MP to hold that title. He doesn't hold a seat, that's why Scheer is the Interim Leader of the Official Opposition.
Not giving airtime to a private citizen masquerading as a sitting politician is not censorship. If it were, I could demand equal airtime to blather on and cry censorship if I don't get it. I am nobody. So is he.
A disclaimer would be nice, something like 'he doesn't have a seat, is not the Leader of the Official Opposition and will not even have the chance to get a seat for months".

Not an excuse but a reality and one that needs to be corrected. They need to be funded properly to function properly

Same reason Naheed Nenshi gets airtime in Alberta.

PP remains leader of the Conservative Party. That’s a party title. Only the party can take it from him.
Scheer is (temporarily) the Leader of HM’s Offical Opposition. It’s a parliamentary role and title, available only to MPs. He is not the party leader.
The House is not the only place politics happens.
Those MPz won't say boo, so he must speak for them

My bigger issue isvwith Mr Wonderful.
Why is O'Leary on CBC or CTV?
Just wait. Let them stew in their juices
My only point would be that they will meet your indignation with their own, where as ridicule has less defences
Ever watch 'power and politics'? I rest my case.
That takes both incredible talent and stupidity ☠️

Sort of like defunding it because you think it’s too liberal on the opposing side…

I don’t know what to do either
If the party appointed Scheer interim leader, I don’t fully understand why we are talking to him.
Now if he gets the seat in Alberta, fine but until then?
He gets air time for the same reason Nenshi does (and should) get airtime: being party leader.
