Is there even a story tonrun? Its safe to assume he can because of course its tehnically possible. It's prudent to assume he is, because he his behavior leaves little expectation he would respect privacy and he bought himself immunity. The article would just be a warning to leave twitter.

If they haven't promised it, you start from an expectation the platform operators can access DMs. Then the only possible question is: do you trust Musk to not abuse that for his own gain?

The vast majority of DMs are not e2e encrypted. He can see those. And without passing a proper 3rd-party audit of their encryption, might as well assume the encrypted ones aren’t private either.
