Autism advocates say they are fearful that if RFK Jr. is confirmed, it could undermine years of progress in unlinking autism and vaccines, while potentially diverting research dollars to a theory already discredited by hundreds of studies worldwide.

I like how at the end of the day the fear of autism is having a child that takes extra work to take care of. Which is the gamble you make ANY time you have a kid. If you're not ready for that responsibility, maybe you shouldn't have kids?
Perhaps if you don't have kids who are affected you shouldn't judge those who do. You're projecting your thoughts about the extra work it takes, and that is telling.
It has nothing to do w/ it taking extra work to take care of them, it's about their quality of life which often sucks. I have two kids w/ severe autism, one barely verbal that self injures a lot, will never live independently (neither will). It has zero to do w/ my responsibility or sacrifices
“Living independently” is about how much work/care they take. It’s only an issue bc it’s difficult to find & afford caretakers. Has zero to do with quality of life, IF we’re supported.
(I’m autistic with an autistic child. And I’m tired of hearing how wretched her existence must be.)
You have no idea what level of supports my kids. Neither will ever drive a car or live on their own, they will be dependent on someone else for most basic day to day activities. Both have sub60 IQs & one seriously self injures and is barely verbal. Speak for yourself not us. Shame on you.
I don't understand why you're saying this in response to what I said. I'm saying that people are afraid of vaccines causing autism because they don't want to have children that take extra effort to care for. Which can happen in many forms, not just autism.
Which if someone is afraid of this to the point that they will expose their children and the children around them to deadly disease, then they shouldn't have children to begin with. Because your child could end up needing extra care in a variety of ways outside of autism.
There's a lot you don't appear to understand. Like stating that parents are afraid of vaccines because they don't want to take extra care of their kids. Those are your thoughts that you're projecting onto others, you have zero idea what others are thinking.
If you can have conversations on social media w/ strangers and have kids, we're talking about an entirely different level of autism. You have no idea what my kid goes through, the keloid scars & bruising all over her body due to SIBs. Who said I'm a mom? Perhaps judge a little less 😉
The whole “woe is me, it’s so hard to be an autism mom” bit only hurts our kids, teaches them to hate themselves & to despair. I know from personal experience. They deserve better.
As a person with an intellectual disability, I would never want to see RFK, Jr. in a position of power because he has traded Camelot for conspiracy theories. His conspiracy theories have made me sick and I would hate to see RFK, Jr. and his nomination to be confirmed.
I'm sorry, but if you honestly believe there is a link between the two, you are absolutely the problem and you deserve to be put in your place for being utterly stupid.
The poor autism community is getting scapegoated. First the Elon nazi thing and now this. The republicans could care less about folks with disabilities
As the parent of two children with severe autism, I have no issue with further testing the vax/autism link theory. What disturbs me is when we're not allowed to discuss the issue because it's "settled science" as though all previous testing decades ago was infallible and bias free.
Are you aware that Jordan Peterson lost his Psychology license in Canada for misgendering and deadnaming a celebrity and generally opposing trans ideology? Others in the UK lost theirs for Covid Vax info they posted which we now know to be true?
(Coming from the father of two severe cases, one barely verbal) Of course I don't want there to be a link, but I'm not prepared to just state unequivocally that it shouldn't be looked into because of decades old studies.
Sorry, the more people state with absolute certainty there's zero link, that something has been completely debunked, the more it makes it suspect. If there's no link then additional testing can't hurt. Who performed the original studies, who were they funded by, etc?
No, I'm just not going to blindly accept studies that are decades old where we don't know who funded. It's fine if you want to blindly accept what "experts" say, I tend to be a bit more inquisitive and skeptical. Liberals used to be that way too, but sadly that has changed.
Lots of things that have been debunked have later been found to be true, particularly coming out of the NIH, CDC & AMA etc. Remember when settled science said DDT was safe & it was being sprayed on people? The Food Pyramid fraud that said to load up on grains & nonfat foods?
Oh God, why did I bother replying to you sincerely before? You’re totally brainwashed. Your poor kids. Please don’t subject them to conspiracy theory “cures” you found online ok? 👍🏻
It has been proven over and over again that vaccinations do not I repeat do not and have not caused autism this is conspiracy theories and propaganda but people will believe anything they want to to make themselves feel better JFK is a nightmare drug addict that should never have this job
"Vaccines do not cause autism. A small study in 1998 suggested a link between vaccinations and autism spectrum disorder. The study was reviewed further and retracted. In addition, the author's medical license was revoked due to falsified information."
RFK Jr.'s stance on vaccines and autism is not just outdated—it’s dangerous. The scientific consensus is clear: vaccines do not cause autism. Spreading misinformation risks public health and diverts resources from real autism research and support #VaccinesSaveLives
Anti- vax rhetoric isn’t just wrong—it’s dangerous. Decades of science confirm NO link between vaccines and autism. Reviving this myth risks lives, fuels stigma, and steals focus from real autism research. Listen to autistic voices, not conspiracy theories. 🚫 #AutismAcceptance #VaccinesSaveLives"
Only if enough of us don’t act. We’ve been conditioned to watch this like is an episode of a reality television show. This is the real deal - we’re gonna need to snap out of the tv trance and get to work
This all started because one crappy doc wanted to be rich from selling his version of an MMR vaccine. So he set out to discredit the existing vaccines. And morons believe it.

Autism does not create Naziism.
Thank you.
America is fearful that Trump is doing Putin's bidding and working to destabilize the entire country.
He should pay for those deaths.
