This is what happens when you hire the absolute dregs of society & then give them 419 packages to deliver in 6 hours. Most of them are not qualified as drivers in the first place
Amazon confirmed the driver is no longer delivering to Amazon customers. So he wasn't fired. He's just no longer a driver. Maybe there's a job for him in the Trump administration?!
Time for huge fines against Amazon and other companies when their vehicles hit people. Don’t allow them to hide behind contractors to evade responsibility. It is likely their profit drive poor policies that dramatically increase the risk to the public and their drivers.
The guy here was driving a quiet electric van and said he didn’t realize he had hit her. “They” claim to have found weed in the vehicle but I think that’s a little too convenient.
Thank you
I understand what happened now. When the message of arrest was shown, I believed it to be the beginning of recording, on a repeat.
On my shitty old iPad.
Thanks! 😊
This would make a lot more sense if the video started 5 - 10 seconds earlier. Before making any judgements, I would like to know how the pedestrian managed to be on the ground in front of a vehicle waiting for a red light.
Stop the victim blaming. It is Amazon’s responsibility to make sure its drivers are careful and that their policies make safety the priority over profits.
Cut it out. The video only plays if you click on it. The description told you exactly what you would encounter. Take personal responsibility, we ain't yo mama.
Ok, I tested it, and if you click play on ANY video in your feed, this one plays automatically too. So that's something @nbcnews.com should be aware of and act accordingly.
My mistake. It seems I had autoplay turned on, but didn't know it because nothing autoplayed. This is a very confusing interface and I think @bsky.app needs to re-evaluate this.
How was it the driver's fault? He shouldn't have been fired. Amazon still liable, big time, but she shouldn't have bent down in front of a truck. Whatever she dropped, be wise to alert the driver before bending downs. Because she was stupid now man can't pay his rent or feed himself.
Apologizes. Didn’t intend to imply it was the drivers fault. Amazon should disable any distracting screens when delivery vehicles are in motion. Their vehicles should also automatically brake for pedestrians, cyclists and their workers outside vehicles.
He wasn't distracted. She bent down. We didn't see the full thing. Ppl look down. It happens. if suddenly a person is gone IN the DARK the assumption is it passed. The only option wud be to leave the car, walk around. That might mean he'd be hit at a traffic light\ rear ended. Need Cameras Maybe
No info. Thanks for the explanation. I think it's sad he was fired though. Accidents happen. She should have tapped tapped the hood to get his attention B4 hand. I'm a bit suspicious that maybe she did it to sue. Just odd and unfortunate.
Why would someone throw their head in a tire's way for money? Cant you imagine another reason they would do such a thing before assuming they want money???

WTF

‼️‼️‼️‼️‼️‼️‼️‼️‼️‼️
The video doesn’t immediately play for me because I took the right steps.
She made it three steps into the street, dropped something in front of the stopped van. Light turns green and the van pulls forward.
I imagine the driver was looking at their logistics screen while stopped.
This video is tough to watch.
Any update on the victim?
Be sad for his victim instead!
