A composer from Ukraine had a clinic last week and some of our band kids went. He talked about his experience as a composer when they were invaded in 2014. His fellow musicians were all like “we have no place here. We can’t help. We are musicians”. And he told these kids he said that

“Music is important now more than ever”. Ppl NEED music to inspire them, to mimic their struggles and triumphs. Music to say the words that we can’t. I whole heartedly agree. I remember when thy marched the streets to “we’re not gonna take it” and that was poweful.
