Not at all suprised by this, the blue tick meant something before the takeover by Musk.
No it's just "pay to be a prat" and score some clickbait engagement cash.
I saw an ad in the replies, 3 times on one tweet that had only 10 or so visible replies (claimed it had more but, you clicked and you couldn't see them, orphan replies are a constant now) and the ad had a community note on it that it was just a dropshipped product available cheaper from the source
It will not be long before Musk cripples the community notes feature - it's the last bastion of users being able to communicate reality and facts and call out dishonest content
He'll likely flip its purpose from what it is now to being in defence of fake news and dishonest content
I saw some blue check post a video of some guy dancing in a post about Jordan’s failures. Had about 4K views because it was a popular thread so mission accomplished 🙄
The metrics provided by twitter are not at all credible now. The views on a tweet, especially the views on a video, are nonsense based on the shadiest of metrics
Advertisers know it, too, they can't trust the metrics twitter provides them
Musk messed with them to make twitter seem way more popular
I'm on CC, and there's already a lot of misleading information and argumentative nonsense being distributed via the function. Been going on for quite a while now. The place is a complete bin fire.
Omg it’s almost like making verification locked behind a paywall instead of after a certain number of followers and activities they analyze you personally to decide if you’re worth of having a platform, was a bad idea?
Blue check in Twitter/ X is nothing more than a commercial operation to (desperately) raise the cash needed by Mr. Elmo to repay the 44 billions loans that he ask to buy Twitter. But I suspect that the operation is not going exactly as he supposed to… And now there’s 💙Sky!!!!
At this point, misinformation from blue checks is not a bug, but a feature. I'm surprised that any scientists or researchers even bother using Twitter anymore, because anything they post is gonna get swarmed by blue checks going "nuh uh" because the science doesn't support their narratives.
I assumed this was a feature not a bug. If you're advertising on xtter I just assume you are trying to reach morons and sociopaths eager for lies and misinformation.
Normally, one would want to have replies from anybody who manages to discover your post. But now, yes, that does seem to be a better choice when on ‘Twitter.’

They spam a handful of bs propaganda talking points & those flood the top of the replies
It's just no fun over there anymore, Musk killed the organic community, he killed the vibe

It's really an indictment of the system that made him one of the richest men in the world.
