I’ve long given up on expecting this country to seriously shift its thinking to the next generation, as some of our peer countries are doing, but this is a bit on the nose.
I naively hoped that COVID, which upended the lives of a generation of young people to protect the lives of older people, would change this dynamic. But, no: the Gold Card subsidies must flow.
