The bottom line is that I live in a country with no government. I have no way to fix my daughter's legal registration information.

I could update her birth certificate to the incorrect birthday? At least then it would be consistent. I wonder if that department has employees...

I would suggest liaising through one of your senators or MOC. Otherwise, SSA is impossible. Good luck.

Try different office. After no good answer by phone, I drove to SSA office that in past didn't take walk-ins. I was exasperated enough to make "good trouble." Surprise: At least today, take-a-number permitted walk-ins! Fixed in 2 min, after weeks of anguishing "Bad gateway" online, phone cockblocks.

Just remembered I got that "call back later" robot too. I called 5-6 times, counting those, not 4. The SSA agent I met today was kind when I told him my ordeal. He said they've been stretched so thin after nothing but big budget cuts for so many years. The 3 agents had no down time while I was there

120 is highest it's programmed for. 4 dif days it said that, real wait 3-4.5hrs. 3 offered callback 1) disconnected immediately after ring to me 2) staffer hung up <1 min in b/c I complained 3) I was in a mtg. Starting over a 4th time, no callback option, SSA finally picked up 730pm, 4.5hrs of hold.

I'm trying to remember how I handled this late last year. I also had an over 2 over hour wait time on the central phone line. I think eventually I just went to the office but they had ended walk in appointments the previous week...for my issue. I could still speak to someone to get information.

Part of that information was the direct phone number for the office I had to go to (I was at the wrong one). That phone line someone picked up quickly. You could try showing up to see if you can schedule in person or get the direct number.

US Social Security cards do not have a birthdate on them and never did.

Newer cards have what's called a "batch date," which is the date the card was issued. That date probably won't match your child's birthday.

Yes, send to senators and your Representative so that they can assign a caseworker liaison to the Social Security Administration to navigate this for you (and hopefully get a quicker resolution).
