They're familiar with exactly two things Jesus ever said—the parable of the talents and the "Render unto Caesar" thing—and they interpret both wrong.
The obviously stupid Governor of Texas wouldn’t just make s**t up about “What’s in the Bible?” for political reasons?
No one has ever seen such a thing before!!
