Coby Mayo has made a couple of nice plays at 3B for the Tides tonight. He’s generally just looked like a different, much less confident player in the big leagues.

I do think a lot of it is an issue of confidence and that there are several things that can be done to try to address that but I don’t know what happens behind the scenes.
I don’t really believe that the two mental skills coaches on staff qualify as mental health professionals. They appear more like corporate coaches. And I don’t think they have to be a clinical psychologist but I do think they should have clinical experience. Compare them to who the white Sox have.
Really did not want to get into LinkedIn scouring but you’re missing Alejandro Macario, who has a masters in psychology and an MS in sports psychology.
I’m really not trying to make excuses here but these are roles that barely existed a decade ago. And no, I don’t think their presence on the staff means Coby Mayo is necessarily supported.
Alejandro Macario is another person without much experience. He’s working towards his CPMC but doesn’t have one. The guys struggling on the team are being crushed under the pressure to perform. This is the first time in their young lives that they’ve struggled.
This is something I’m really interested in and I think it’s great that the team is moving in this direction. But I also think it’s important to point out that the mental health professionals the team has hired are maybe not the right people for the job due to their specific backgrounds.
Imagine if he KNEW he was going to get 3-4 ABs a night for a month or so (at least) to let him settle in to the bigs. Wonder how powerful a statement that would by be.

And they don't seem to be too effective of late.
At the big league level, he doesn't have the history and it seem the confidence goes out the window.
