You have a much better sense of the literature than I do, but please please please bring in as many people with hands-on experience as you can find to talk to your class. Especially field experience. The theory/practice gulf is huge.

It’s terrific! Thank you. Guest lectures can be tricky the first time you run a new undergrad class but I agree with you: the gulf between practitioners and scholars is much too wide, and hopefully in future runs of the course we’ll be able to have practitioners come speak with students

Entirely sensible, especially with undergrads. I just worry in general because I've given talks and Q&As for grad students and new FSOs, and the flawed assumptions driven by the theory/practice gulf can be really disheartening.
