I'm not sure how to explain it but there's literally an issue where half this country is just uneducated and dumb as fuck and it has zero correlation to class/socio-economic status, etc. Like I've met people who are college educated that are seriously dumb as shit.

I think a lot of it has to do with a lack of balance. I know some book smart people that have zero common sense or street smarts and vice versa. Also a lot of people just don’t understand nuance which irks the fuck out of me.

I also blame the idea that we shouldn't discuss politics or religion in friendly company. I think that's just made us incapable of having polite nuanced discussions about politics and religion. It also lets us forget details about our government and its workings.

I can't tell you how many white people I've tried discussing politics with over the past 10 years who just insist politic is boring or they're not interested, or it doesn't affect them.

They also don't enjoy when I tell them that's their white privilege talking. They're lucky to believe that.
